Homepage shortcuts surface the topics that matter to you and your team

Shortcuts are the latest improvement to myFT, enabling FT app users to quickly navigate to relevant topics and easily see when new stories are published.

The need for personalised news

We know from customer feedback that FT readers want to tailor FT.com to help find the content that’s most relevant to them, without losing the view of what the FT editorial team thinks is important.

The launch of myFT allowed FT.com subscribers to follow thousands of topics, individual journalists, countries and key people in the news. However, FT readers are often time-poor, so it’s important for them to access key stories in as few steps as possible.

The FT has developed shortcuts to help our app users quickly scan through their myFT topics, and not miss new content, even when they’re on the move.

What do shortcuts look like?

Shortcuts appear at the top of the FT app homepage. Tapping on a shortcut takes you through to a topic page where you can scroll through the latest stories.

How to create shortcuts

In order to see shortcuts within the app, you’ll need to be following topics using myFT. Click the ‘Add to myFT’ button next to a topic to start following it, and content will start to be surfaced to you.

As well as access through shortcuts, following topics also enables you to set up instant alerts and email digests. The video below quickly walks through how to get started with myFT if you haven’t used it before.

With over 125 years as one of the world’s leading news and information organisations, the FT provides businesses, governments and education institutions across the globe, with award-winning journalism and tools to help them achieve their goals faster.
