Free access to FT.com can help students with relevant and fresh ideas for essays, exams, extra-curricular activities and in interviews. Universities and employers confirm that broader general knowledge helps the best candidates stand out.

Participants receive access to all FT.com content available to regular subscribers. In addition, with the help of teachers, we highlight and guide readers to FT journalism that can enrich education and help prepare students for successful careers.

FT Student Advocate Programme

The FT is offering two ambitious, curious Year 12 students in each school the opportunity to develop leadership skills and confidence by becoming a Student Advocate.

Students promote the benefits of reading the FT to their friends and teachers and represent the voice of students to the FT. They will work closely with the FT Schools Team to develop more engaging resources for young people.

Schools will have access for at least a year and can then continue at no cost for as long as the programme lasts. The FT will notify schools if and when the programme ends.

Participants receive access to all FT.com content available to regular subscribers. In addition, the FT and a panel of teachers will promote relevant FT articles, videos and podcasts in a weekly email service. The email will include an explanation of the relevance to the curricula.

Access will be provided through the school’s IP network. This means that individuals accessing from the school IP network will not need to identify themselves and anonymity will be protected.

Yes. The advertisements that run on FT.com will be visible.

Yes. Access to FT.com and associated emails will be terminated for the students who leave school or college.

No. You will only be able to create a login with the email domain of your school or college. Each login is for the sole use of a specific student or a teacher at your school or college and is not to be shared. We monitor for password sharing and will remove access for accounts that are shared.

The weekly email is an integral part of the Service and will highlight FT editorial content of relevance to the curriculum. Each student and teacher who logs in to FT.com using the school's email domain will receive the Newsletter at that email address, until they choose to unsubscribe from receiving the weekly email.

If an education institution has a mix of ages above and below 19, then please contact us, as we can offer mixed solutions - where the under 19's gain free access and there are discounted education rates for the over 19 population.

Free access applies to all students up to 19 years old in secondary rather than tertiary education, irrespective of what they are studying.
