Cocktail Reception | Panel Discussion | Q&A

Financial Times | 330 Hudson Street, 8th Floor | New York

A flurry of acquisitions by Chinese companies prompted countries throughout the West to rethink the way they conduct merger reviews, with policymakers on both sides of the Atlantic increasingly worried they are selling their crown jewels to a hostile Beijing.

Nowhere has this crackdown been more pronounced than in the US, where the Trump administration has used the secretive Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS) in an unprecedentedly aggressive fashion to block deals.

As national security has risen on the M&A agenda, a new cadre of CFIUS lawyers have emerged as central players in cross-border dealmaking. Our latest Due Diligence event hears from two of the most prominent and experienced veterans members of the CFIUS bar.
