We get a lot of questions about what’s included as part of a Financial Times Group Subscription.
What makes a Group Subscription different than buying as an individual?
An FT Group Subscription consists of five key elements:
- Full access to FT journalism
A Group Subscription provides premium access to FT.com, including news, analysis, newsletter briefings and tools.
- Usage based pricing
With a Group Subscription, you are only charged for users who need frequent access to our content. You also pay once for access to the FT across multiple platforms and benefit from volume discounts.
- Workflow integration
A Group Subscription allows organisations to access the FT within third party applications and databases, such as your CRM or intranet and via 60+ news aggregators.
- Enterprise services
Tools and services are available to help deploy and manage Group Subscriptions, including single sign on, admin tools and access to usage data.
- Customer plans
Our customer success team advises customers on how to best get value from using the FT within your organisation.
The rest of this article will describe each of these areas in more detail.
What is covered by the FT?
The FT writes about the major events and trends in world affairs, business, finance and politics. The FT’s network of 600 journalists worldwide produce about 250 articles a day. Our articles are annotated to describe the topics, organisations, places and people we write about. Popular topics include:
- Politics and political risk
- Company news
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Financial markets
- Global trade
- Emerging markets
- Industry sector trends
- Markets and investments
- Country reports
- Workplace issues
Articles are published to FT.com and FT mobile apps, often in multimedia formats such as video, graphics and audio, and via email alerts and newsletter briefings. Tools are available to allow readers to customise FT.com, share articles with colleagues and analyse markets data.
How much does an FT Group Subscription cost?
When buying a Group Subscription, the price is determined by the number of people who need frequent access to the FT. We price based on usage, so you only pay for what your organisation or team uses.
Customers only ever pay to access an article once, across multiple devices. And the more users on a licence, the better value customers receive thanks to a volume discount. You can learn more about our pricing model by watching this video.
Is the FT available on other applications or platforms?
Group Subscriptions cover access across multiple platforms and technologies. Many organisations want to integrate the FT into their business processes and applications, which is why we offer the FT via 60+ third party platforms.
These include media monitoring agencies and news aggregators such as Bloomberg, Factiva and LexisNexis. We are working to add more partners based on customer requests - see a full list of platforms.
Some customers have integrated the FT into their CRM and intranet systems. Credit Suisse for example uses the FT within its investment management system and provides recommended reading for its advisors.
What services are included within a Group Subscription?
The FT offers a suite of tools to help our institutional customers make better use of the FT within their organisations. Single sign on provides fast and frictionless access to FT apps, both desktop and mobile. We’ve also released a suite of tools to help customers:
- Add and remove users on a subscription
- Make content recommendations, highlighting relevant FT articles to the right people. Users or teams can be automatically set up to ‘follow’ particular topics on FT.com based on their interests
- See who’s reading the FT and how much the FT service is being used within your organisation

How is the FT deployed within organisations?
The FT customer success team works with organisations to agree a plan to drive adoption of the FT and meet defined customer outcomes. A customer plan typically includes:
- Best practice guidance on using the FT
- Training and enablement for administrators
- Integration of the FT within user workflows
- Building awareness and adoption within the organisation
The aim is to accelerate the return on your investment in the FT.
An FT Group Subscription extracts the intelligence that’s relevant to your business and delivers it via the media and technologies that suit you best, saving you time and keeping you informed on what matters.
