The FT launches Unhedged: a new weekday newsletter covering the world of markets and finance

The market is as unpredictable as it has ever been in our lifetime. Though monetary response to the pandemic has sent markets soaring to new highs, the rising threat of inflation and a shift that has seen cyclical value stocks gain strength in comparison to the fast-growing technology companies have investors on edge.

This is why the FT sees this as the perfect time to launch Unhedged, a daily newsletter for industry insiders, covering the world of markets and finance. Delivered straight to inboxes every morning, the newsletter will bring you a smart and timely update to set you up for the day ahead.

Unhedged will be brought to you by the FT’s seasoned US finance editor, Robert Armstrong, who will be compiling consequential market movements, Wall Street analysis and exclusive industry insights into a straight-to-the-point and decisive daily digest.

What can I expect from Unhedged?

With the combination of strong opinion and fact, the newsletter will provide bankers, executives, analysts, investors, and other Wall Street professionals with a competitive edge like no other. Making full use of the FT’s unparalleled global range and understanding of the corporate landscape and political spheres, readers will gain intelligent insight that will have them more prepared for forthcoming market changes.

Wall Street is the symbolic centre of capitalism the world over. Its influence on the global economy and business mean it’s of crucial interest to the FT's American audience. Unhedged will bridge a gap in fast-paced finance news to give our readers the daily insights they need to stay ahead.

Who is behind Unhedged?

The newsletter will be compiled by Robert Armstrong who, after earning PhD in philosophy, worked as an analyst at a hedge fund before switching to journalism, where he became a seasoned contributor to the Financial Times. While at the FT, he has edited the Lex column, served as chief editorial writer, and reported on Wall Street banks - and writes a regular men’s style column.

Through Unhedged, Robert will be dissecting the most important market trends and discuss how the best minds in finance are responding -- all in a succinct, humorous, opinionated package.
